Custom Hearing Protection

Custom hearing protection is made from impressions of your own ear canals, so it seals consistently and comfortably.

The short answer

Custom hearing protection is made from impressions of your own ear canals, so it seals consistently and comfortably. Options include high-attenuation plugs for mining and industry, filtered plugs for musicians that reduce level without dulling sound.

For mining and industry

High-attenuation custom plugs suit sustained noise exposure, and can be made with communication ports where crews need to hear radio traffic. We take impressions on site alongside audiometric testing, so a site visit covers both compliance testing and protection in one visit.

For musicians and hospitality

Available in several attenuation levels for performers, sound engineers, teachers and bar staff.

What the appointment involves

  • Examination of the ear canals to make sure impressions can be taken safely
  • Soft silicone impressions of both ears — about ten minutes
  • Discussion of attenuation level and any communication requirements
  • Manufacture and return fitting to check comfort and seal
